Reporting SuspensionsReporting Code of Discipline Incidents (Suspensions) 2009-2010
The ODMHA code of discipline, Item 9.0 c) of the ODMHA handbook, defines the Coach’s role pertaining to suspensions. The following explains this procedure in District 4.
House League Teams Must
· Report any code of discipline offence that results in the player/official being removed from the game and confirm the discipline (if any) to be assessed (number of games to be served).
Report on-line - press the 'Report a Suspension' button on the LCMHL web home page (right side near top).
· Report via email, to suspensions@lcmhl.ca or president@lcmhl.ca.
· If you do not have access to email then call Darlene Cardiff @ 888-490-0708 to report the penalty.
· You must report the penalty received as shown on the game sheet with the following info:
- date of the game
- player/official's name & number or position
- the penalty/penalties assessed
- the period and the time of penalty
- your interpretation of suspension
- dates it will be served
- other info (if necessary) - 1st fight, 2nd, 3rd, etc., league, playoff, exhibition or tournament game, need confirmation by ______ (next game)
· This should be done within 24 hours of the game played or within 24 hours of your return from a tournament out of town.
· It is not necessary to fax the game sheet unless it is requested. Report any difficulties to your association representative.
· NOTE: Severe suspensions are in place to coaches who play players/officials that should be sitting out games.
· NOTE: Make sure those serving suspensions are noted in that section of the game sheet & make sure the On-Ice Official (Referee) initials each person serving a suspension.
· Game sheets showing players serving suspensions (e.g. 1 of 3) must be retained by the team as proof suspensions have been served - sheets should be kept for one full year by the team manager or coach. They must be provided when requested. This is essential at the end of the season due to carryover suspensions. Failure to show proof of suspension received near the end of the year as being served will result in a carryover to next season.
